The consortium members

The connecting thread that brings together the different members of NeuroGLIA is a simple one — that neuron-astroglia signalling is central not only for fundamental phenomena in brain function but also in a number of brain disorders. In fact, as documented by an extensive publication record, the participants are scientists that provided some of the seminal observations that led to the following paradigm shift.

Contrary to mainstream research, our experimental approach steadily provided data that, with time, lead to a diffused awakening of the scientific community: glial cells can potentially play an enormous role in the pathophysiology of the brain. Our track record shows that NeuroGLIA members are at the forefront of glial cell research, and can thus be reasonably expected to be in a privileged position to formulate hypotheses and design new experiments that will increase our comprehension of the role of astroglia in the brain.
